Remote Audio Rainman RMANK4 Raincover with Waterproof Hood

The Remote Audio Rainman RMANK4 covers a boom mic’s basket windshield and softens the impact of falling rain instead of soaking it up.

It is made of a soft, lightweight batting that does not absorb water or mat when wet. Raindrops slow down as they pass through and are channeled out the front. The cover is also more acoustically transparent than a fur cover. The outside is net material with sturdy stitching. The fabric’s small cells let it breathe, wick moisture, and shed water.

The Rainman slides onto the windshield with its open end at the front of the mic and closes with a hook-and-loop slot, so it goes on and comes off quickly. The outer seal uses strong hook-and-loop. A waterproof hood comes with every new Rainman.

What It Fits

The RMANK4 fits the Rycote Modular Windshield WS 4 and other windshields of similar size. The WS 4 carries mics such as the Sennheiser MKH 416 and MKH 60, Schoeps CMIT 5U, Neumann KMR 81, and Sanken CS-3e. The Rainman RMANK2 fits the smaller WS 2.

Good to Know

Use the Rainman without a fur cover; a stretch sock-type cover can go underneath for more wind protection. In heavy rain it can take on water faster than it sheds it, so take it off now and then to shake or wring it out.
