Rycote SGM Foam Windshield for Shotgun Microphones

The Rycote SGM Foam is a slip-on foam windshield that gives shotgun and other cylindrical mics quick protection from light wind, on a boom pole or a camera.

The open-cell foam is made for Rycote and cuts wind noise by up to 20 dB while keeping high-frequency loss to a minimum. It resists moisture and UV light, so it holds up outdoors.

For stronger wind, add a Rycote Windjammer fur cover over the foam for a further 12 dB.

Choosing a Size

Each foam is named for its length and the mic diameter it fits. Choose the length that covers your mic’s interference tube slots: the 18 cm foam fits mics whose slots end within 18 cm of the front. The standard hole (19/22) fits mics 19 to 22 mm across, and the large hole (24/25) fits 24 to 25 mm.
