Rycote SC-08 Compact Supercardioid Condenser Microphone

The Rycote SC-08 is a compact supercardioid pencil condenser for studio and field recording, with a nearly flat response from 70 Hz to 20 kHz.

Design

The individually tuned back electret capsule sits in a lightweight machined aluminum body, and the preamp is machined brass for lasting RF shielding. Active in-line filtering adds to that shielding, and Rycote tested the mic against digital wireless systems and walkie-talkies.

The low-noise preamp gives the SC-08 the same sound as the other mics in Rycote’s range, so they cut together well. It runs on 24 to 48 V phantom power and connects through a gold-plated Neutrik XLR.
