Rycote Baseball Windscreen

The Rycote Baseball is a 3-inch, felt-covered windscreen for interior boom work. It holds a cavity of still air around the capsule to stop the swoosh of fast boom swings.

Acoustically transparent open-cell foam sits under a soft, felt-like cover stitched like a baseball for durability, and sized elastomer grommets hold it tightly on the microphone. It does far more against swing noise than a conventional foam windscreen.

Choosing a Size

The Baseball comes in three sizes, named for the microphone diameter they fit, and each is sold singly or in a 3-pack. The 19/20 mm size fits the DPA 4018, Sennheiser MKH 8050, and Schoeps CMC 641. The 21/22 mm size fits the Sennheiser ME 64 and Neumann KM 185, and the 24/25 mm size fits the Sennheiser MKH 40 and MKH 50.
