Lectrosonics SMWB Single-Battery Wideband Belt-Pack Transmitter
The Lectrosonics SMWB is a single-battery wideband transmitter that tunes across three standard Lectrosonics frequency blocks in each band.
Output power switches between 25, 50, and 100 mW, for more range or a more secure link in heavy RF noise, and battery life stays the same at every setting. It runs in Nu Hybrid mode with Lectrosonics receivers and has compatibility modes for Mode 3 and IFB receivers.
Frequency Bands
Trew Audio carries the SMWB in two bands: A1 (470.100 to 537.575 MHz) and B1 (537.600 to 607.950 MHz). Frequencies step in 25 or 100 kHz increments across the band, for up to 3072 choices.
Recording
The SMWB doubles as a recorder, writing 24-bit, 44.1 kHz BWF files to a microSDHC card, and the same card slot updates its firmware in the field. US models record or transmit, not both: when recording starts, the RF audio stops while battery status still reaches the receiver.
Input and Setup
The TA5M input uses Lectrosonics servo bias circuitry for electret lavaliers, dynamic mics, and line-level sources, with 2 V or 4 V bias. A DSP-controlled limiter ahead of the first preamp gives more than 30 dB of overload protection. Gain adjusts in 1 dB steps over 44 dB, and the low-cut sets from 35 to 150 Hz.
Build and Power
The housing is machined from solid aluminum, with water-resistant seals and a non-corrosive finish that resists salt water and sweat. One AA battery runs it for about 4.4 hours.
