DPA 4188 CORE+ Directional Flex Headsets and Earsets

The DPA 4188 CORE+ puts DPA’s 4088 directional capsule on a lightweight, flexible earset or headset frame, for both spoken word and vocal performance.

It gives clear, natural speech and handles very high sound levels, so performers can speak and sing into it without distortion. Strong off-axis rejection suppresses distant sound sources on loud stages where background noise and feedback are a concern. The bass response is linear at 2 to 3 cm (1 in) from the mouth and rolls off with distance, which adds to that rejection. With CORE+, the capsule keeps distortion low across the whole dynamic range and resists humidity.

The earset hooks over one ear, and the headset is worn over both. Either style fits any ear size and head shape, mounts securely, and is hardly visible; turn the boom and ear hook to wear it on the left or right. The cable splits from the boom at a connector, so a damaged cable or a different wireless connector can be swapped quickly.

The boom comes in 120 mm (4.7 in), the standard length that fits most people, or 100 mm (3.9 in). It sits at the corner of the mouth rather than directly in front of it, which avoids pops. The MicroLock version connects to most professional wireless systems through DPA’s MicroLock adapters, and hardwired versions come with 3-pin LEMO, TA4F Mini-XLR, or Mini-Jack connectors.
