DPA 2017 Shotgun Microphone
Designed for the demands of broadcast, the DPA 2017 shotgun microphone pairs an extremely directional pickup with a compact, rugged build for fixed positions, booms, and camera systems.
Its interference tube attenuates sound from the sides by around 10 dB at 90° and by more than 20 dB around 125°. The sound it does pick up off-axis stays natural, just lower in level. Low self-noise of 13 dB(A), a 130 dB dynamic range, and 143 dB SPL peak handling cover both quiet scenes and loud sources.
Built for Rough Handling
The thick brass body has a protective black chrome finish, and the grid has no moving mechanical parts. DPA tests the 2017 against repeated falls, direct rain showers, and condensation, and the mic dries and returns to normal operation quickly. At 184 mm and 115 g it is shorter and lighter than many shotguns, so it fits smaller wind protection. With no switches, it can be set in its windshield and left alone. The uniform 360° grid keeps the sound consistent even if the mic rotates in its mount.
