DPA 4017C Compact Shotgun Microphone
At 154 mm (6.1 in) and 70 g (2.5 oz), the DPA 4017C is a compact shotgun microphone for camera systems, fixed positions at sports venues, and broadcast, ENG, and film booming.
A supercardioid capsule behind an interference tube gives a highly directional pickup with excellent off-axis rejection, for noisy surroundings or when you cannot get the mic close to the source. DPA worked to smooth the uneven side-lobe response common to shotguns, so off-axis sound stays even.
The 19 mm condenser cartridge is immune to RF and works in very humid places and in extreme heat and cold, from deserts to the arctic. Its short body makes booming easier in cars and low-ceilinged rooms.
