Zaxcom MicPlexer 3 Antenna Distribution Amplifier
The Zaxcom MicPlexer 3 is an antenna distribution amplifier that splits two antenna inputs into four outputs each for a diversity receiver system, with a continuously tunable 50 MHz filter.
It tunes 470 to 665 MHz and 745 to 965 MHz in 2 MHz steps. The band in between is reserved for specially licensed mobile devices.
Tuning Window
The 50 MHz window passes everything inside it and sharply attenuates signals outside. Tuned to 550 MHz, for example, it passes 525 to 575 MHz and cuts walkie-talkies at 460 MHz by as much as 36 dB. The steep, adjustable filter gives more freedom in frequency selection than SAW filters or fixed high-pass filters, and it keeps walkie-talkies and phones from overloading the amplifier.
Amplification and Output Level
The amplifier has a 0.35 dB noise figure and an OIP3 of +34 dB. Output level is adjustable from -10 to +6 dB below 665 MHz and from -10 to +3 dB above 745 MHz. SMA connectors on both inputs make it simple to bypass the MicPlexer 3.
Overload LEDs
Each antenna input has an overload LED. If one lights, move away from the RF source, and if the OLED meter nears -20 dB, reduce the incoming RF.
Power
The MicPlexer 3 runs on 10 to 18 V DC through a Switchcraft 761K connector, and its USB-C port takes software updates.
