Sound Devices Musician Plugin

The Sound Devices Musician plugin turns a MixPre into a portable songwriting tool, with overdubbing, bouncing, effects, and a metronome on the recorder itself.

It works on the MixPre-3, MixPre-3 II, MixPre-6, MixPre-6 II, MixPre-10T, and MixPre-10 II, whether the recorder runs on its own or as a USB interface. Songs record at up to 96 kHz and 24-bit.

Recording

Lay down up to 12 tracks in all; the table below shows how many each MixPre records at once. Bounce several tracks to one or two to free up more, and punch in and out automatically or by hand. Cue markers help you move around a song. Any input routes to any track, so cables stay where they are.

Mixing and Sharing

During recording or playback, mix with the fader knobs, pans, solos, mutes, and effects such as reverb. A finished song renders out for sharing, and a multichannel WAV file from a DAW can be imported as the start of a new project or as a backing track.

Good to Know

NoiseAssist, MixAssist, and Ambisonics are unavailable while the Musician plugin is in use. Each license is made for one recorder’s serial number, so include your MixPre’s serial number with your order.
