Sound Devices CL-16 Linear Fader Control Surface for 8-Series
The Sound Devices CL-16 is a linear fader control surface for the 833, 888, and Scorpio that brings 16 faders, 16 trims, and a panoramic LCD to cart mixing.
Channels 1 to 16 get dedicated, non-banking controls like an analog console, while 32 multi-function knobs reach EQ, pan, gains for channels 17 to 32, bus levels, and output levels. The unit is 16.3 in wide, fits a cart, and runs on 12 V DC through a 4-pin XLR, with the power supply sold separately.
Waveform View
The ultra-wide, multicolor waveform display lets you jump between takes with Q markers and up to 16 locate points, scrub forward or back, and play or pause from the surface. You can view any combination of mix and ISO tracks, or isolate one track in PFL.
Build and Connections
Its 16 Penny & Giles 100 mm faders glide smoothly, and the bottom panel opens for field servicing. A five-port USB hub (two USB-C, three USB-A) connects keyboards, an SD-Remote tablet, and other devices, and the CL-16 connects to the mixer-recorder over USB-B. A 10-pin remote connector wires custom LEDs and switches, and a 1/4 in jack takes a foot pedal.
