Sound Devices Astral HH Control Rings — Customize your control. Sound Devices has made it easy to not only set commands on the Astral HH microphone remotely via NexLink®, but also change the physical controls on the mic, simply by swapping out the Astral HH Control Ring, giving you maximum flexibility for your applications.

The interchangeable A20-HH Control Ring comes in four models: Astral HH Control 0 with no external physical controls but a multicolor status/audio level LED; Astral HH Control 1 with one button and multicolor LED; Astral HH Control 3 with three buttons, each with multicolor status LED; Astral HH Control Switch with a latching side switch and a six-segment multicolor LED bar; and the Astral HH Control Blank with no external physical controls or LED. Each ring has a different set of available commands that can be configured in the Astral HH Settings menu, such as on/off, mute, none, record, power, RF on/off, etc.

Among the assignable commands is Aux audio routing, which can be used to activate talkback mode. The command can instruct a Sound Devices Astral® receiver to reroute audio to a different output. That means an onstage musician can push a button and request the monitor engineer make a change, or a sports broadcaster can slide the control switch and automatically communicate with a producer located remotely in a broadcast truck – all without lag time or needing a separate, expensive microphone.
