Sound Devices Astral HH Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone
The Sound Devices Astral HH is a digital wireless handheld microphone for concerts, theater, houses of worship, and live events, with a calibrated CD1 dynamic capsule and SpectraBand tuning.
It shares its core technology with the Astral TX and Astral Mini transmitters, runs 10 hours on one 18650 battery, and is built from die-cast magnesium and stainless steel inside an impact-absorbing polycarbonate shell.
Frequency Bands
SpectraBand tunes from 470 to 1525 MHz in 25 kHz steps, with available frequencies set by region. RF power runs up to 100 mW where regulations allow, and AutoAssign scans and sets frequencies on every transmitter with one button press.
Capsules
The CD1 is Sound Devices’ own dynamic capsule, tuned for vocals and calibrated at the factory so one mic matches the next. The reversible Capsule Collar has Shure-style threads on one side and Sennheiser-style threads on the other, so the Astral HH takes capsules from either with no adapter. A Counterweight-30 balances heavier capsules.
Controls and Remote
As supplied, the Control 0 ring has no switches for talent to bump. Swappable Control Rings add one or three buttons or a slide switch, each set in the menu for mute, record, talkback routing, and other functions. NexLink lets an Astral receiver change frequencies and power every transmitter up or down at once, and GainForward moves gain to the console’s trim.
RocketAntenna
The patented RocketAntenna keeps transmitting at the same level wherever the mic is held, so a hand over the bottom of the mic does not cause dropouts.
Make It Your Own
The body shell, control ring, capsule collar, and CD1 come off in minutes, so you can paint or decorate them to suit a costume or a show.
