Rycote Super-Softie Slip-On Microphone Windshield
The Rycote Super-Softie is a slip-on microphone windshield covered in Rycote’s 3D-Tex fabric, made for strong wind and tough location work such as news (ENG) and reality TV.
3D-Tex’s layered structure and surface texture both help cut wind noise. With no rigid frame inside, the Super-Softie causes virtually no polar pattern distortion. Its true cavity design cuts wind noise at very low frequencies, including infrasonic ones below hearing, where most wind energy lies.
It is the same diameter as a Classic-Softie and gives more wind protection. Getting wet or dusty does not affect its performance: squeeze it out and shake it dry, or rinse the dust off.
Choosing a Size
Each size is named for its length and the mic diameter it fits. Choose the length that covers your mic’s interference tube slots. Then choose the 19/22 hole for mics 19 to 22 mm across, or 24/25 for mics 24 to 25 mm across. The table lists example microphones.
