Rycote OM-08 Compact Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone
The Rycote OM-08 is a compact omnidirectional pencil condenser for studio and field recording, built on Rycote’s low-noise preamp and capsule design.
The OM-08 has a solid low-frequency response with virtually no drop-off at 20 Hz. It sounds like the rest of Rycote’s microphones, so it cuts together cleanly with them. It works singly or in matched stereo pairs. This page is for one microphone; the stereo pair is sold separately.
The capsule is a broadcast-quality back electret, individually fine-tuned and housed in machined aluminum. It feeds a compact, ultra-low-noise preamp in non-corrosive machined brass. Self-noise is 11.0 dB-A, and the mic takes up to 133 dB SPL. The fine-tuned mechanical RF shielding has been tested against digital wireless systems and walkie-talkies. The gold-plated Neutrik XLR takes P48 phantom power. The mic fits these Rycote windshields: the 5 cm SGM Foam, Classic-Softie, Short Fur Softie, and Super-Softie; the Nano-Shield Kit NS1-BA; the Cyclone Small; the Modular Windshield WS 10 Kit; and the 19/20 mm Baseball.
