Rycote BBG Windshield for Short Microphones

Built for short mics, ball-head mics, and ORTF pairs, the Rycote BBG is a small windshield with the wind protection of a full-size one. On its own, the BBG gives up to 30 dB of wind-noise attenuation. It slips onto the mic body, so the mic can be hand-held or shock-mounted in a Lyre suspension.

A grommet grips the microphone body while the windshield fully encloses the capsule. The BBG fits microphones with bulbous ends and ORTF pairs up to 80 mm across the head. Its two halves come apart so ball-head or tapered mics can be fitted from inside. It is built from the same material as Rycote’s full-size modular windshields, and the optional BBG Windjammer adds further protection. It comes in 20, 21, 22, and 25 mm versions, sized to the diameter of the mic body.
