Rycote Cyclone Large Windshield Kit

The Rycote Cyclone Large is a windshield and suspension system for shotgun microphones 250 to 280 mm long and 19 to 25 mm in diameter. It suits the Sennheiser MKH 416 and MKH 60 and the Schoeps CMIT 5U.

The basket is covered in Rycote’s 3D-Tex, a durable gray material with excellent acoustic transparency that dusts off after light use and rinses clean after heavy use. Its open shell of curved contours, with no straight or parallel surfaces, greatly reduces the hollow coloration that tubular windshields add to the sound. Its asymmetric shape puts more of the basket’s volume in front of the microphone, so it cuts wind noise about as well as a modular windshield with a fur cover. An optional Cyclone Windjammer goes further in extreme weather.

Lyre suspension webs hold the microphone, and the Floating Basket Suspension applies the same principle between basket and pole to stop handling noise at its source. The Z-Locking system lets the basket come off or go back on with one hand and snaps it magnetically into alignment. The kit is 470 mm long overall, with a brass 3/8″ female boom thread, and it also fits the RODE NTG-2 and NTG-4+ and the Sanken CS-3e.
