JK Audio THAT-1 Telephone Handset Audio Tap
JK Audio THAT-1 Telephone Handset Audio Tap — A compact, passive interface that connects between a telephone and its handset for quick access to audio in and out of the phone. Radio stations use it to record and play sound bites, and computer and telephone companies use it to demonstrate voice services through a powered speaker.
Unplug the handset coil cord from the telephone base, plug it into THAT-1, and connect THAT-1 back to the phone with the supplied cable. RCA jacks then connect audio equipment or a powered speaker. The output carries a mix of both sides of the conversation plus the keypad tones, and a level control sets the output volume for a recorder or speaker. The line input accepts a line-level signal to send into the call.
THAT-1 works with many analog and digital PBX and ISDN telephones. The receive side works with any telephone, while sending audio into the phone requires a handset with an electret microphone. It does not work with cordless or cell phones or with handsets that have a built-in keypad; for round-mouthpiece handsets or use across many phone types, the THAT-2 adds selectable handset compatibility. No batteries or AC power are required, and the connection is isolated to 1500 volts.
