JK Audio QuickTap IFB Listen-Only Telephone Handset Tap
For IFB, ENG, and AV work, the JK Audio QuickTap IFB feeds the audio of a telephone call to a 600 ohm XLR output and a 3.5 mm earpiece jack.
Plug the handset’s coiled cord into the QuickTap IFB, then connect the tap to the phone base. Both outputs carry a mix of the phone line audio and the handset audio going into the call. With the handset disconnected, you hear only the far end of the call.
The XLR output feeds a mixer or a headphone amplifier such as the JK Audio RemoteAmp. An IFB earpiece can plug straight into the 3.5 mm jack, which has an attenuator. Since this passive box has a 600 ohm output, the earpiece needs an impedance over 600 ohms for usable level. The QuickTap IFB works with analog, digital, PBX, and ISDN telephones, but not with cell phones or phones with the keypad in the handset.
