DPA MMC4017 Shotgun Pencil Microphone Capsule

Combining a supercardioid design with an interference tube, the DPA MMC4017 shotgun capsule gives DPA’s modular pencil microphones a highly directional pickup with excellent off-axis rejection.

DPA refined the sound arriving from the sides and back so it stays natural, only damped, without the uneven side-lobe response of many shotguns. The 19 mm (0.75 in) cartridge handles 152 dB SPL peak before clipping, is immune to RF, and copes with high humidity. Fitted to the MMP-B preamp, the capsule becomes the DPA 4017B shotgun microphone.

About DPA Microphones Pencil Mics

DPA builds their pencil microphones from modular parts: a capsule pairs with the preamp of your choice, and the capsule moves to another preamp, active cable, or boom at any time with no tools. All DPA mics share the same sonic character, so their pencil, shotgun, and miniature mics blend easily in a mix. DPA covers their 4000 Series pencil mics and preamplifiers with a five-year warranty.

DPA designs and builds their microphones in Denmark, drawing on a history that began with Brüel & Kjær measurement microphones.
