DPA 4018ER/ES Supercardioid Microphone
Only 35 mm (1.38 in) long, the DPA 4018ER/ES is an ultra-compact supercardioid microphone for unobtrusive or distant miking, such as desktop or hanging use.
It pairs DPA’s MMC4018 supercardioid capsule with the MMP-ER/ES, an integrated 3 m (9.8 ft) active XLR cable. The cable leaves the mic from the side on the 4018ES or from the rear on the 4018ER. The pickup is highly directional, with a smooth, uniform off-axis response and a minimized rear lobe, so sound keeps the same color around the mic.
Uses
The 4018ER/ES is made for music recording and for long-distance broadcast, ENG, and film miking: booming, dialogue, interviews, and table or spot recording. The SM4000-C suspension mount in the box lets it hang from the ceiling for precise spot miking of orchestra sections or room ambience. Like every DPA pencil mic, its capsule is modular and moves to another DPA preamp with no tools.
