Bubblebee Industries The Windkiller

A one-piece fur windshield, the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller slides onto a shotgun microphone in seconds and keeps wind noise out of outdoor, ENG, and documentary recordings.

It brings the idea behind Bubblebee’s Windbubbles up to shotgun size. Multi-pile faux fur, with hairs of varying lengths, is glued to an airy inner mesh that holds still air around the capsule, so the wind slows gradually and the microphone keeps its natural frequency response. A rubber base grips the microphone and lets the Windkiller slide on and off quickly.

Choose long hair for the most protection in heavy outdoor wind, or short hair for moderate wind, with slightly better high-frequency transparency. Sizes run from XS to XL for microphones 19 to 22 mm in diameter. XS and XL Big Mount versions fit larger bodies such as Sennheiser’s MKH 30 to MKH 60, and the Sizing tab lists the microphones each size fits. If the fur gets wet, let it dry and shake it back into shape.
