Ambient NanoLockit Timecode Generator and Logger

Small enough for any camera rig, the Ambient NanoLockit is the smallest Lockit: a timecode generator and logger that runs up to 24 hours on its built-in battery.

It delivers timecode through a locking 5-pin Lemo-compatible port. On its own it drifts less than one frame a day (about 0.1 ppm), and with a C-Jam (Continuous Jam) master active on Ambient’s ACN wireless network it does not drift at all. A full charge takes 2 hours, and 15 minutes of charging gives about 4 hours of use.

Logging Takes

Since firmware 6.30 the NanoLockit doubles as a logger for directors, filmmakers, and content creators. One button marks a good take and another marks a bad take, and after the shoot the logs import into editing software as markers with one click over USB.

One-Button Sync

Holding the green button for three seconds sends timecode and frame rate to every Lockit on the same ACN channel, and a NanoLockit sets its frame rate automatically when it is jammed. It can start from its built-in real-time clock or take external timecode by cable. Frame rate and ACN channel are set once in Ambient’s LockitToolbox software, and an RGB LED shows the status at a glance.

TX Mode

In TX Mode the NanoLockit follows an external source, LTC by cable or MIDI timecode from a computer, and passes timecode to the other Lockits over ACN.

Cameras Without a Timecode Input

With Ambient’s TC-IO-35 cable, a DSLR or other camera with no timecode input records the NanoLockit’s timecode as audio on one track, through the camera’s 3.5 mm mic jack. The output level is adjustable.
