Ambient Lockit ACN-CL Timecode & Sync Generator

The Ambient Lockit ACN-CL, a timecode and sync generator, is set up entirely from its own OLED display and buttons, with no app needed.

Like every current Lockit, it generates highly accurate SMPTE timecode with genlock and wordclock sync and joins Ambient’s ACN wireless network, where C-Jam mode keeps every unit at zero drift over a full shooting day.

One-Button Sync and TX Mode

Holding the green button for three seconds syncs timecode and frame rate to every Lockit on the same ACN channel. The Lockit can start from its built-in real-time clock or take external timecode through its 5-pin port.

In TX Mode it follows an external LTC or MIDI timecode source and passes timecode and sync on to the other Lockits. Timecode and sync offsets from -10 to +10 frames correct cameras that lag.

Outputs and Sync Formats

Two 5-pin Lemo-compatible push-pull ports carry timecode with genlock or wordclock, and timecode with ACN metadata, so the Lockit can feed two cameras at once or jam over a cable. Tri-level genlock covers 1080i and 1080p at 23.976 to 60 fps, and wordclock covers 48 to 192 kHz. Over USB-C the Lockit charges, takes external power, connects to LockitToolbox, and works as a MIDI timecode interface for a Mac or PC with no extra setup.

Battery

A single NP-50 battery (750 mAh) runs the Lockit for about 17 hours, and C-Jam only slightly shortens that. The battery charges while the unit runs, and NP-50 cells and chargers are easy to find.
