Zaxcom Mix-16 Control Surface

With 16 motorized, touch-sensitive faders on five banks, the Zaxcom Mix-16 is a control surface for the Deva 24, Nomad 12, or Nova.

It gives direct access to recording and mixing controls, including hardware trims, transport, dedicated PFL keys, and routing. At 19 in (48 cm) wide it fits standard rack mounts on production carts and in audio cabinets, and one USB cable connects it to the recorder.

With the Deva 24

Paired with a Deva 24, the system records 24 tracks, all controlled from the faders. Any combination of the Deva 24’s analog or digital inputs can be assigned to any bank.

Meters, Trims, and ZaxNet

Each fader has a bright LED input meter and an input trim at the top of the console, and mix tracks one and two get two meters each. PFL lets you listen to a channel on its own. The input pots also send preamp gain changes over ZaxNet to Zaxcom transmitters during a live recording.

Touch GUI and Power

With Zaxcom’s touch GUI on a Windows or Mac computer, the Mix-16 adds touchscreen metadata entry, expanded metering, access to menus and routing, and a timecode slate with metadata.

It connects to power through a Hirose connector. Many computers run on 16 to 19 V, so a cart running on 12 V needs an inverter to power the GUI computer.
