Sennheiser MKH 8050 Super-Cardioid Condenser Microphone
When the sound from the sides must stay out, the Sennheiser MKH 8050 is the super-cardioid condenser in the MKH 8000 series, for soloists, a grand piano, or a whole orchestra.
Compared with the cardioid MKH 8040, it rejects more sound from the sides, so instruments stay better separated while the response inside the pattern stays balanced. Like every MKH 8000 mic, it uses a symmetrical push-pull transducer with two backplates for very low distortion, and its RF design resists humidity.
The 8050 is modular. The head joins the MZX 8000 XLR module, and together they measure 19 mm across and 74 mm long, which helps in tight spots and under low ceilings. The response runs from 30 Hz to 50 kHz.
