Sennheiser MKH 8030 Figure-8 Condenser Microphone
With its figure-8 pattern, the Sennheiser MKH 8030 picks up sound equally from front and rear and rejects the sides, which makes it the partner for M-S, double M-S, and Blumlein stereo recording.
Paired with a cardioid or super-cardioid mic, it gives an M-S setup whose width you set later. It also works wherever a neighboring source needs strong rejection. A low-tension diaphragm in an acoustically open push-pull transducer keeps the pattern precise, with little off-axis coloration.
The response reaches from deep bass up to 50 kHz, and self-noise and distortion stay low. The metal MKH 8000 housing resists moisture, and its Nextel finish does not reflect stage lights. The modular design takes other MKH 8000 accessories. Two Rycote back-to-back clips come with the mic for stereo rigs.
