Sanken CUB-01 Cardioid Miniature Boundary Microphone (Gray)

Small enough to tape to the ceiling of a car, the Sanken CUB-01 fits cardioid boundary pickup, aimed over its front half, into a miniature body 32.5 mm across and 14 mm high.

Its square capsule housing enlarges the diaphragm’s effective area, so the CUB-01 avoids the thin, metallic sound common to boundary mics and stays flat down to 70 Hz. The cardioid pattern favors narration and dialogue over background noise.

It is built for TV and film field shoots, broadcast studio production, and conference table recording, and it is easy to hide from the camera. The mic is hardwired to a small interface that takes 48 V phantom power and ends in an XLR-3M connector. This one is gray, and Sanken also makes the CUB-01 in beige and white.
