Rycote OM-08 Omnidirectional Mic + Nano Shield Kit NS1-BA Bundle

The Rycote OM-08 bundle pairs Rycote’s compact omnidirectional pencil microphone with the Nano-Shield Kit NS1-BA windshield and suspension system. The Nano Shield’s Advanced Lyre mounts are softer than standard Lyres to suit light microphones, so they isolate the OM-08 from handling noise without a full-length blimp’s size and weight. Mic, suspension, and wind protection go onto the boom as one low-profile package for dialog, effects, and ambience recording on location.

The OM-08 is a professional pencil condenser with an omnidirectional pickup pattern and solid low-frequency response. Its range is 10 Hz to 20 kHz, with virtually no drop-off at 20 Hz. With no rear signal reaching its diaphragm, the omni capsule sounds natural in every direction and keeps the low end that directional mics roll off. It suits ambience, atmospheres, and wide sound effects. It uses the same low-noise machined brass preamp as the rest of Rycote’s pencil range, with an individually fine-tuned back electret capsule in a machined aluminum body, and reaches 11 dB-A self-noise. Fine-tuned mechanical RF shielding guards against digital wireless systems and walkie-talkies. The OM-08 runs on 24 to 48 V phantom power and ships with a hard case, mic clamp, and foam windscreen.

The Nano Shield Kit NS1-BA is sized for microphones up to 122 mm long, which covers Rycote’s 8 cm pencil mics. It is roughly 30% lighter than Rycote’s Modular Windshield kits and more acoustically transparent, with large hexagonal pockets for less high-frequency loss and an oval basket with non-parallel sides for less internal resonance. The two basket halves lock together with magnets and sliders. Other basket sizes are available, so the kit can fit other microphones later. The mounting bar and swivel arm adjust by thumbwheel with no tools, and the kit works with Rycote’s PCS quick release. The low-profile XLR cable carries an RF filter and a switchable 80 Hz low-cut, while a 360-degree reversible XLR holder points outward for a wireless transmitter or inward for a direct cable run. A Windjammer and protective case complete the kit.
