Rycote OM-08 Omnidirectional Mic + Nano Shield Kit NS1-BA Bundle — A compact omnidirectional pencil microphone paired with Rycote’s smallest and lightest full windshield and suspension system. The Nano Shield’s Advanced Lyre mounts are more compliant than standard Lyres for lighter microphones, so the OM-08 is isolated from handling noise without the size and weight of a full-length modular blimp. Mic, suspension, and wind protection come from one manufacturer and go onto the boom as a single low-profile package for dialog, effects, and ambience recording on location.

The OM-08 is a professional pencil condenser with an omnidirectional pickup pattern and solid low-frequency response, with virtually no drop-off at 20 Hz across a 10 Hz to 20 kHz range. Because the omni capsule has no rear signal reaching the diaphragm, it sounds natural in every direction and captures low-end detail that directional mics roll off, well suited to ambience, atmospheres, and wide sound effects. It shares the same low-noise machined brass preamp as the rest of Rycote’s pencil range, reaching 11 dB-A self-noise, with an individually fine-tuned back electret capsule in a machined aluminum body. Active in-line filtering and fine-tuned mechanical RF shielding guard against digital wireless systems and walkie-talkies. The OM-08 runs on 24 to 48 V phantom power and ships with a hard case, mic clamp, and foam windscreen.

The Nano Shield Kit NS1-BA is sized for microphones 75 to 110 mm long, the range that covers Rycote’s 8 cm pencil mics. It is roughly 30% lighter than Rycote’s Modular Windshield kits and more acoustically transparent, with large hexagonal pockets for less high-frequency loss and an oval basket with non-parallel sides for less internal resonance. Its two basket halves lock together magnetically, held by manual locking sliders, and can be exchanged for optional sizes to fit other microphones later. The mounting bar and swivel arm adjust by thumbwheel with no tools, and the ergonomic handle has a built-in PCS quick release. The low-profile XLR cable carries an RF filter and a switchable 80 Hz low-cut, while a 360-degree reversible XLR holder points outward for a wireless transmitter or inward for a direct cable run. A Windjammer and protective case complete the kit.
