Lectrosonics UFM144 UHF Filter/Amplifier Module

The Lectrosonics UFM144 is a UHF filter/amplifier module that adds up to 12 dB of gain ahead of long antenna cable runs or a multi-receiver splitter.

Two ceramic resonator filters pass a 144 MHz band, from 470 to 614 MHz, before the signal reaches the GaAsFET amplifier. Filtering first keeps intermodulation products down and prevents overload. The amplifier’s output intercept point is +41 dBm.

Gain and Placement

The module goes near the antenna. Internal jumpers set the gain to +12, +8, or +5 dB to match the loss of the cable and splitter that follow. For example, a 4-way splitter with 6 dB of loss and a cable with 2 dB of loss call for 8 dB of gain. Four screws hold the bottom cover over the jumpers.

Power and Build

It runs on 8 to 16 VDC through a locking side-panel jack, or from DC bias on its RF output from a Lectrosonics multicoupler or Venue Series receiver. A passive splitter does not pass DC, so a system with one needs a separate power supply. A switching regulator keeps current draw and heat low. The housing is cast aluminum with a brushed aluminum cover and two BNC connectors.
