Lectrosonics DPR-A Digital Plug-On Transmitter

The Lectrosonics DPR-A digital plug-on transmitter fits the XLR output of any microphone or line-level source and adds an on-board recorder with timecode.

It tunes from 470.100 to 607.950 MHz in 25 kHz steps, at 10, 25, or 50 mW, and its external SMA antenna gives it extended operating range. The purely digital design encrypts the audio with AES 256 in CTR mode, with four key policies.

Audio

Phantom power switches between 5, 15, and 48 V, or off. An ultra-low-noise op-amp feeds a dual envelope limiter with more than 30 dB of headroom above full modulation. A 24-bit converter digitizes the audio and filters out noise above 21 kHz. Gain adjusts in 1 dB steps over 55 dB, and the low-cut sets anywhere from 25 to 150 Hz.

Recording and Timecode

The DPR-A records 24-bit, 48 kHz BWF files to a microSDHC card. A 3.5 mm jack takes timecode for jam sync, and a temperature-compensated crystal holds it to better than 1 ppm. On US models, recording and transmitting do not run together: when recording starts, the RF audio stops, though battery status still reaches the receiver.

Setup and Power

A backlit LCD and membrane switches set it up, the IR port copies settings from IR-enabled receivers, and the LectroRM mobile app adjusts power, frequency, and level with audible tones. Two lithium AA batteries run it for more than 6 hours while it supplies 48 V phantom power. Sweat and other moisture damage the DPR-A; the optional DPRACVR silicone cover protects it.

Good to Know

The SMA antenna is required for operation, and the antenna jack takes Lectrosonics AMM steel wire or jointed AMJ antennas. The DPR-A works with the Lectrosonics DSR4, DSR, and DCR822 receivers.
