Lectrosonics DHu Digital Handheld Transmitter

Built for live performance, broadcast, AV rental, and houses of worship, the Lectrosonics DHu digital handheld transmitter takes interchangeable thread-on capsules.

The capsule is sold separately. Lectrosonics offers the HHC cardioid condenser. Thread-on capsules from other makers with a 1.25 in opening and 28 thread pitch also fit, including those from EV, Shure, Heil Sound, Earthworks, and TELEFUNKEN.

RF and Encryption

It tunes from 470.100 to 607.950 MHz in 100 or 25 kHz steps, at 25 or 50 mW. The lower setting stretches battery life, and the higher gives more range and resistance to dropouts. The fourth-generation, purely digital design converts at 24-bit, 48 kHz and encrypts the audio with AES 256 in CTR mode.

Controls

The lower sleeve slides down to reveal membrane switches, an LCD, and an IR port that copies settings between receiver and transmitter. The programmable button on the back works as push-to-talk, cough, mute, talkback, or power, or does nothing at all. Gain adjusts in 1 dB steps over 45 dB, and a DSP-controlled dual envelope limiter and a low-cut at 35, 50, or 70 Hz shape the sound.

Power

Two AA batteries run it for 8 hours on lithium or 3 hours on alkaline at 50 mW. The contacts hold the batteries firmly so they do not rattle, and an eject lever frees them for a quick change. The DHu works with the Lectrosonics DSR4, DSR, and DCR822 receivers.
