DPA 4060 and 4061 CORE+ Omni Lavalier Microphone
The DPA 4060 and 4061 are miniature omni lavalier microphones with CORE+, DPA’s latest preamplifier technology, which neutralizes distortion across the entire dynamic range.
The 4060 was the first miniature mic DPA developed, from technology previously used only in hearing aids and measurement microphones. It was designed for wireless use in theater and is now widely used in television and film. The omni pattern needs no aiming and is less sensitive to handling, pop, and wind noise.
Choosing a Model
The 4060 has normal sensitivity (20 mV/Pa) and handles up to 134 dB SPL peak, a good balance of signal and noise for chest placement and quieter sources. The 4061 is acoustically identical but about 10 dB less sensitive (6 mV/Pa), handling up to 144 dB SPL peak. It suits the head or forehead of a theater performer, where the sound pressure level is about 10 dB higher than at the chest.
Grids and Construction
Each mic comes with two grids. The pre-fitted Soft Boost Grid adds 3 dB at 8 to 20 kHz for head mounting and natural sound, and the High Boost Grid adds 10 dB around 12 kHz for chest placement. Both are anodized stainless steel and come off for cleaning. The 5.4 mm capsule has a vertical diaphragm and a double-vent protection system against humidity and sweat, and the Kevlar-reinforced cable relief stands up to constant twists and pulls.
MicroLock is DPA’s locking connector. A MicroLock adapter connects the mic to most professional wireless transmitters, and MicroLock parts also mate with MicroDot parts (the lock works only when both halves are MicroLock). Hardwired 3-pin LEMO, TA4F, and Mini-Jack versions plug straight into popular transmitters.
