DPA 2012 Compact Cardioid Microphone
Made for close-miking instruments on the live stage, the DPA 2012 is a compact cardioid condenser microphone, sold singly or as a stereo pair.
It works on many instruments, especially those with plenty of high-frequency content, and its transient response is far better than a dynamic mic’s. Its cardioid capsule has DPA’s flat off-axis response, which gives high gain before feedback and makes bleed from nearby instruments easier to handle. Handling up to 156 dB SPL peak, it copes with the loudest drums, guitar cabinets, and horns.
The thick brass body resists corrosion and metal fatigue, and the handle and grille have a protective black chrome finish for rough use on a hectic stage. Typical uses include snare, hi-hats, guitar cabinets, piano, percussion, congas and bongos, acoustic guitar, and horns.
