Ambient ATE 308 Emesser Figure-8 Microphone for M/S Stereo
The Ambient ATE 308 Emesser, a compact figure-8 condenser microphone, clips onto your boom microphone and turns it into an M/S stereo system inside the windshield you already use.
It lets you add depth to dialogue, record room tone, or capture ambience in stereo, whatever microphone you use. Because dialogue and ambience come from the same main microphone, a scene can move from mono to stereo with no change in sound.
Its frequency response is matched to a shotgun microphone addressed from the side, with the low end reduced. The result is a natural stereo image with clear localization, little out-of-phase content in the low end, and good rejection of handling noise.
The ATE 308 follows the ATE 208. It pairs the preamp of Ambient’s Soundfish hydrophones with a redesigned small-diaphragm capsule, which cuts the perceived noise floor by more than half. It runs on 48 V phantom power through a TA3F connector.
Microphone or Set
Choose the microphone on its own or the set. The set adds the Rycote clip that holds the Emesser on your boom microphone, a Y cable with a standard 5-pin XLR output, a foam windshield, and a bag.
