Deity PR-2ii Pocket Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic
The Deity PR-2ii is a pocket audio recorder that captures 32-bit float WAV files to a microSD card, takes wireless or wired timecode, and comes with an Avora lavalier mic in the box. Its small, light body can be hidden on talent, planted on a set or in a vehicle, or carried as a backup recorder.
The Sidus Audio app puts the controls on a phone, tablet, or Mac, so the PR-2ii can stay out of reach. From the app you can start and stop recording, adjust settings, check the recorder’s status, and listen through paired Bluetooth headphones.
What’s New
Compared with the PR-2, the PR-2ii has a stronger front, with a tempered-glass screen cover and button controls. A rubber gasket seal now surrounds its battery compartment. The body is rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance.
Recording
The PR-2ii records 32-bit float through Deity’s Tru32 design, which uses two analog-to-digital converters, so loud peaks do not clip. A 24-bit mode records two channels for stereo. Files are BWF WAV at 48 kHz on microSD cards of up to 1 TB. A buffer and Deity’s dual-file recording protection guard each take against dropped data and sudden power loss.
Gain presets for popular lavalier mics give a quick starting level, and a limiter, 75 Hz or 150 Hz low-cut filters, and noise reduction help keep dialogue clean.
Timecode and Control
The PR-2ii receives wireless timecode from Deity timecode devices such as the TC-1 and TC-2, or wired timecode through a 3.5 mm connection, and holds to 1 frame of drift every 48 hours. It also sends timecode over USB-C to compatible XTRA, DJI, and Insta360 cameras. Connected to a computer, it works as a class-compliant USB audio interface at 48 kHz and 24-bit on two channels.
Power and Display
The PR-2ii runs on two AA batteries or from USB-C power, and two Deity AA cells come in the box. The color display is sunlight-visible at 600 cd/m², and the recorder weighs 55 g without batteries.
