The Zoom PodTrak P4 records each of four XLR mics to its own track on an SD card, with four headphone outputs and Sound Pads for podcast music and jingles.
Each mic input has its own gain knob, mute button, and up to +70 dB of gain, with +48 V phantom power for condenser mics and an equivalent input noise of -124 dBu. Every one of the four headphone outputs has its own volume control, so each host and guest hears the show.
Remote guests join by phone through the TRRS jack, or from a computer over USB with conferencing software, and the Mix-Minus function keeps echo and feedback out of the caller’s audio. The optional BTA-2 adapter connects a phone over Bluetooth instead of a cable. Four Sound Pads play music, ads, jingles, or recorded interviews at the press of a button, from 11 preset sounds or files loaded from the SD card.
The P4 records 16-bit/44.1 kHz WAV files to SDHC and SDXC cards: a stereo mix ready to publish, plus a separate file for each channel and the Sound Pads for editing later. Over USB-C it is a 2-in/2-out audio interface for a computer, Android, or iOS device (iOS needs Apple’s Lightning to USB Camera Adapter), for recording or live streaming. It runs on a USB mobile battery, Zoom’s AD-17 AC adapter, or two AA batteries, which last about 3 hours on alkalines.
