Zoom H1 XLR Handy Recorder
With two locking XLR/TRS combo inputs and 32-bit float recording through dual A/D converters, the Zoom H1 XLR is a two-track handy recorder with no gain to set.
A switch on each input selects mic or line level, the inputs accept +4 dBu line signals from a mixer, and +48 V phantom power runs condenser mics. The preamps have an equivalent input noise of -122 dBu. A 3.5 mm stereo mic/line input with plug-in power takes on-camera mics and lavaliers, and a built-in mixer sets each track’s level.
The H1 XLR records stereo or mono WAV files at up to 96 kHz to microSD cards up to 1 TB, and its OLED display shows real-time waveforms. A 3.5 mm headphone/line output monitors the recording or feeds a camera, the built-in speaker plays files back, and a 1/4″-20 thread mounts it on a rig.
Over USB-C it works as a 32-bit float audio interface for a PC, Mac, iOS, or Android device while it records to the card, and it can record audio straight into a phone’s video. Voice guidance reads the menus aloud for blind and visually impaired users. It runs on two AA batteries or USB-C power, including bus power and USB battery packs.
