Zoom F3 Field Recorder
Recording in 32-bit float through dual A/D converters, the Zoom F3 is a two-input field recorder that captures the quietest and loudest sounds without a gain setting.
Its two locking XLR inputs take mic or line level, with phantom power at 24 V or 48 V and preamps with an equivalent input noise of -127 dBu. It records mono or stereo WAV files at up to 192 kHz to microSD cards up to 1 TB, and its display shows the input signals as real-time waveforms.
The F3 has a metal case, side bars, a standard tripod mount, and slide-resistant rubber feet, so it mounts on gear or hides in a scene. A line output feeds a camera, and a headphone output monitors the recording.
It runs on two AA batteries, the AD-17 AC adapter, or USB power, and over USB-C it works as a 2-in/2-out audio interface at up to 96 kHz. With the optional BTA-1 adapter, the F3 Control app runs it from up to 30 feet (10 m) away, and the optional TCA-1 adapter generates timecode for it.
