Sound Devices Astral ARX2 Digital Wireless Receiver
A two-channel, true-diversity digital wireless receiver, the Sound Devices Astral ARX2 slots into an SL-2 on an 8-Series mixer-recorder or works on its own with XLR, TA3, or camera adapters.
It is a complete redesign of the original A10-RX, with four RF receivers in all, two for each channel.
Frequency Bands
SpectraBand tunes from 169 to 1525 MHz. The ARX2 works with Astral Mini and Astral TX transmitters across that range, with the Astral HH from 470 to 1525 MHz, and with every tuning range of the A10-TX. Brick-wall SAW filters reject out-of-band interference, including nearby IFB and camera hop transmitters, without external filters.
Outputs and Adapters
Each channel outputs analog audio at +14, +2, −10, or −22 dBu, or AES digital audio. Backplate adapters give it SuperSlot, XLR, or TA3 connections, the A-RXMON adds a headphone amp, and the A-15PIN fits a Sony camera slot with two AES channels.
GainForward and AutoAssign
With GainForward, Astral transmitter gain is set from an 8-Series trim control through the SL-2, or at the ARX2 for other mixers. AutoAssign scans a band and picks open frequencies for you.
