Sennheiser EW-DP ME 2 Portable Digital Wireless Set

The Sennheiser EW-DP ME 2 is a portable digital UHF camera kit: an EW-DP EK receiver, an EW-D SK bodypack transmitter, and an omnidirectional lavalier for clear dialogue.

Working in UHF rather than the crowded 2.4 GHz band gives it more range and fewer dropouts. Its 134 dB dynamic range handles quiet and loud voices without changing settings, and latency is only 1.9 ms. The omni ME 2 clips to clothing and picks up the voice from any angle.

Frequency Bands

This page offers three US bands: Q1-6 (470.2 to 526 MHz), R1-6 (520 to 576 MHz), and R4-9 (552 to 607.8 MHz). Each covers up to 56 MHz, and automatic frequency coordination finds clear channels for you.

Setup and Control

The receiver mounts on the included cheese plate, where magnets hold it, and the plate takes a cold shoe or a mounting screw. Receivers stack on the plate for multi-channel rigs. The Smart Assist app sets up and monitors the system from a distance, and Smart Notifications warn of clipping, low battery, occupied frequencies, muted transmitters, and unlinked devices.

Power

The transmitter runs up to 12 hours and the receiver up to 7 hours. Each takes the BA 70 rechargeable pack or two AA batteries, and the receiver also runs and charges over USB-C. The display shows the time left in hours and minutes.

Good to Know

EW-DP is fully digital and replaces the analog evolution wireless G4. It does not work with G3 or G4 transmitters or receivers.
