Schoeps Desert Island Boom Set
The Schoeps Desert Island Boom Set puts one CMC 1 U amplifier and two capsules in a Peli case, so a boom operator can switch between indoor and outdoor dialogue in seconds.
The MK 41 supercardioid capsule is for interiors. Its pickup pattern stays the same across the frequency range, so sound from the side and back is reduced without being colored. The KMIT shotgun capsule takes over outdoors, where location work needs more directivity. It sounds the same as the CMIT 5 and MiniCMIT, has a steep built-in low-cut filter at about 70 Hz, and resists moisture.
Both capsules screw onto the CMC 1 U, so changing them takes no tools. The CMC 1 U is a compact Colette amplifier that accepts every MK capsule and active Colette accessory, which lets the set grow into a larger Schoeps system without a new amplifier. Every part comes in the blue finish of Schoeps’ CMIT microphones, and an SG 20 stand clamp is included.
