Remote Audio BCSBBV2 Boom Box v2 Talkback Box for Boom Operators
The Remote Audio BCSBBV2 Boom Box v2 is the boom operator’s end of Remote Audio’s Boom Cable System with talkback.
The system carries the boom mic, the mixer’s monitor feed, and a talkback channel on one extension cable. The boom mic plugs into the XLR3F marked BOOM, and the system’s extension cable plugs into the 8-pin Neutricon on the bottom. The extension is Canare two-pair Star Quad. One pair carries the boom mic, and the other carries the monitor and talkback lines. At the mixer, a Boom Box v2 mixer fan connects the extension.
The boom operator’s headset connects through an XLR mic connector and a 1/4 in or 1/8 in headphone plug. A Remote Audio headset with a talkback mic connects through a single TA5F instead. Pressing the button on top sends the talkback mic to the mixer as a balanced line-level signal and mixes it into the boom operator’s headphones with the monitor feed.
Turning the volume knob past its click switches the unit on, and a side trim sets the talkback level. Internal switches set the talkback mic type (electret or dynamic) and the monitor input (headphone level or balanced line). It runs on one 9V battery, and the LED turns from green to red when the battery drops below about 6.1 V.
The system needs this Boom Box, an extension cable, a mixer fan, and a headset with a talkback mic. It does not work with ENG breakaway extensions, even though they use the same 8-pin Neutricon connector.
