Cinela PIANISSIMO Cables
Cinela PIANISSIMO cables wire a PIANISSIMO windshield for MS and double MS work, from the output cables with their internal Binder sockets to the short cables that join each microphone to a socket.
An MS PIANISSIMO has a 5-pin male XLR output, and a double MS one a 7-pin male XLR, each with Binder sockets inside the windshield. The microphones usually connect to those sockets through separate cables suited to their connectors, lengths, and routing, so a change of microphone means a change of cable rather than a rewire. The XLR5F to 2 Binder cable is for an XY pair or a single-body MS microphone.
Wiring
On the 3-pin output, pin 1 is ground and pins 2 and 3 carry the M signal. The 5-pin output adds the S signal on pins 4 and 5, and the 7-pin output adds a rear (R) signal on pins 6 and 7. For mono use of an MS or double MS windshield, channel 1 (M) comes through a splitter between the windshield and the recorder.
