Bubblebee Industries The Sidekick 3 IFB In-Ear Monitor
The Bubblebee Industries Sidekick 3 is an IFB earpiece whose whole micro driver sits inside the ear canal, so talent hears cues and communications with no acoustic tube or earwig showing on camera.
The cable loops behind the ear and clips to clothing, staying hidden under hair and wardrobe, and the loop lets the earpiece go in either ear. The driver weighs 360 mg without its cable, light enough for a 20-hour shooting day, and the Kevlar-reinforced cable runs in one piece from the plug to the driver.
The mono version feeds one ear and leaves the other free to hear the set, with a curly or a straight cable. The stereo version feeds both ears for full isolation from background noise. A 3.5 mm plug connects it to an IFB receiver or any other source with a 3.5 mm output; turn the source’s volume down before plugging in.
Three eartip types come in the box. The Satellite lets in the surrounding sound, the Christmas Tree blocks it, and the Round adds definition in the low frequencies. The acoustic filter in the driver is replaceable with the included tool, and spare filters and eartips are sold separately. For dedicated broadcast work, Bubblebee also makes the Sidekick Broadcast Earpiece, with a larger driver and a braided cable.
