Bubblebee Industries The Windbubble Pro

This Bubblebee Industries Windbubble Pro pack holds two large fur windscreens for omnidirectional mics with capsules of 11.5 to 14 mm, such as the LOM Uši and the MicBooster Clippy EM272.

The large size suits field recording mics and larger lavs and comes in black, in three versions: Standard, Extreme with a foam core, and Extreme Long-Haired for the windiest conditions. The XS, Small, and Medium sizes are sold singly or in pairs in four colors.

Where the original Windbubble holds the mic by friction, the Pro’s soft rubber mount grips the capsule and seals it in an airtight chamber. The cone inside the mount sets how far the mic goes in, so it always sits in the bubble of dead air at the center. The rubber absorbs shocks and stops vibration reaching the capsule. The fixed position lets the windshield stay small without losing protection.

The multi-pile faux fur sits on an acoustically transparent backing that keeps the microphone’s natural frequency response, with shorter, denser hair at the base and longer strands above to slow the wind gradually. The Standard version suits light to moderate wind and keeps a discreet profile. The Extreme version adds a foam core under the fur for heavy wind on ENG, broadcast, coastal, and rooftop shoots.

The Windbubble Pro is made for omnidirectional microphones only; for a directional lav, the original Windbubble is the right choice. Pick the size by the diameter of the mic capsule, using the Sizing tab. Rinse it in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap if needed, reshape the fur by hand, and let it air dry, without wringing, heat, or a washing machine.
