Betso RF Octopus RF Splitter and Diagnostic Tool
The Betso RF Octopus splits the RF from one or two antennas to as many as eight wireless receivers, and it doubles as a pocket-size diagnostic tool for cables.
Three operating modes are set from the menu. The 2:8 diversity splitter feeds four receivers from each of two antennas, the 1:8 splitter feeds eight from one, and the 1:8 combiner-splitter sums two inputs into eight outputs. The RF Octopus covers 470 to 1260 MHz, and built-in low-pass filters at 700, 960, or 1260 MHz keep out-of-band signals away from the receivers. Overall gain is adjustable from −10 to +10 dB in 1 dB steps.
Each antenna input can supply power to an active antenna, switched on channel by channel, with overload protection and a fault warning, so active and passive antennas can be used together. A sunlight-readable OLED display and two white LEDs make it easy to set up in any light.
The RF Octopus also tests coaxial cables. Connect a cable between its two BNC inputs, pick a frequency between 500 and 950 MHz, and it measures the cable’s attenuation, for runs up to about 200 m.
The chassis is CNC-milled, anodized aluminum. It runs on 6 to 18 V DC through a 4-pin Hirose-type connector and can switch on automatically when power is connected. A sealed USB-C port takes firmware updates, and the removable belt clip mounts on the top or bottom of the case for a sound bag or cart.
