At under 7 inches long, the Audio-Technica AT875R is Audio-Technica’s shortest shotgun, a line + gradient condenser microphone for video production and broadcast (ENG/EFP) audio.
It mounts on a DV camcorder without adding noticeable heft and suits compact digital cameras. The narrow acceptance angle of its line + gradient design gives crisp, intelligible sound for long-distance pickup and smooth, natural-sounding audio on axis, while rejecting sound from the sides and rear.
A tailored response keeps camera and handling noise down. The AT875R uses a fixed-charge condenser element and runs on 11 to 52 V phantom power only, drawing 2 mA. Its low-impedance balanced output comes from an integral 3-pin XLR connector, and it weighs 80 g (2.8 oz).
The included AT8405a stand clamp fits any microphone stand with 5/8″-27 threads. Two supplied O-rings slide onto the handle to hold it securely in a camera-mount holder too wide to grip it.
