Ambient UMP III Microphone Power Supply
Built for the wireless boom, the Ambient UMP III sits between a boom microphone and a standard bodypack transmitter and powers the microphone with 48 V or 12 V phantom power, or 12 V T-power.
It runs on its own NP-50 rechargeable battery, so it does not draw on the transmitter’s power and the whole system runs longer. One charge lasts several hours, depending on the microphone. The unit weighs 100 g with the battery. The NP-50 is the same battery the Lockit uses, so one set of spares covers both.
One button selects the mode, and a five-color LED shows it: blue for 48 V phantom, white for 12 V phantom, and yellow for 12 V T-power. The LED turns red when about 15 minutes of battery remain. The UMP III starts in the last mode it used, which is 48 V phantom from the factory.
Cables and Mounting
The input is a 4-pin mini XLR and the output a 3-pin mini XLR, keyed so they cannot be swapped by mistake. The UMP-IN-EMC input cable (XLR3F to TA4F) comes with the unit, and a UMP-OUT cable made for your transmitter connects the output.
UMP-OUT versions fit Lectrosonics SM, Shure TA4F, Sennheiser EW, Sony DWx, Audio Ltd. Mini-TX and 20xx, Micron Explorer, and 3-pin push-pull transmitter inputs. At the tip of the boom, Ambient’s QWB mount holds the power supply and the transmitter.
