Ambient QuickPole Slim Carbon Fiber Boom Pole

The Ambient QuickPole Slim is a four-section carbon fiber boom pole, one section fewer than the QuickPole Series 5. Its 30 mm bottom section is slimmer in the hand than the Series 5’s 34 mm tube.

Ambient developed the Slim after customers asked for a thinner Series 5. The Short extends from 1.00 m to 3.30 m (3 ft 3 in to 10 ft 10 in) and weighs 550 g. The Long extends from 1.55 m to 5.18 m (5 ft 1 in to 17 ft 0 in) and weighs 835 g, measured with the tip and rubber bumper.

Build and Locks

The tubes are Ambient’s carbon fiber compound with an added layer of ultra-high-modulus (UHM) fibers. A quarter turn locks each section and stops it from twisting sideways, and a Teflon, felt, and silicone counter bearing lets the tubes slide smoothly. A section does not retract on its own even when its lock is loose, and the long handle sleeves carry a finely knurled grip. The 3/8 in tip is black.

Cabling and Accessories

This version comes without a cable. Ambient’s QuickPole Slim cable kits add an internal coiled or straight cable with a side outlet, fitted without soldering, and a ready-cabled Slim is sold separately. Ambient’s counterweight for the Slim screws onto the bottom of an uncabled pole to balance a windshield and transmitter at the front.
